Milton Ivie

Simply put, Milton Ivie is power distribution in Georgia.  Milton has been intricately involved in all aspects of power distribution since 1959.  During the 1960s, and in cooperation with Southern Engineering, Milton and Mr. Joe Mays developed methods and standards for the installation of underground and combination installations of power distribution components.  This effort led to a change from each installation being custom and unique to more uniform, more economical and more efficient layouts for upscale residential, 2nd home developments and commercial projects.

Mr. Ivie later established the first training school in Georgia for teaching these new underground standards and methods to utility companies, including building an operational 15kV three phase system. This school continued to operate with support from a wide spectrum of component suppliers and manufacturers for the next 5+ years, at which point it was adopted by the Georgia EMC Training & Safety Staff, with Milton retaining an advisory role.  He then went on to establish similar schools for EMCs in Alabama and South Carolina.  In subsequent years, he provided on-site training for EMCs and municipalities all over the southeastern U.S.  All of this was done without charge to any Customer.

Mr. Ivie has attended innumerable conferences and seminars throughout the country as an expert in this field.  He has trained personnel at the professional and educational levels through unions as well as at colleges and universities.

Mr. Ivie founded United Power in 1976 with the premise of always being ready to help a Customer with the best solution, even if that solution had to be purchased elsewhere.  Mr. Ivie has himself been a Customer of Cobb EMC since early days, having installed their first commercial underground system, their first underground subdivision, and was personally the first within Cobb EMC to have underground service to a single home in 1973.

“I feel that I still have a lot to offer to our Customers who may need our help.  We have designed or helped to design many of the systems our Customers have in place today, and we stand ready to serve you.

Donna Ocheltree

Donna received her bachelors degree a BA from Georgia Southern University where she enjoyed being on the fencing team, playing with the orchestra, and photography in addition to her studies.  She then worked 11 years for Curtis 1000, a 100+ year old printing company, holding several positions before becoming Administrative Manager of Finance at their corporate headquarters.  She joined United Power in 1994, working inside sales and purchasing. She is familiar with all facets of the company and especially enjoys working with customers.  Outside interests include being around water (any kind, any time), photography, listening to music.

 John Cochran

John Cochran is second generation in our business. His father was with Marietta Power for quite a number of years, and John has been an acquaintance of our founder, Mr. Ivie, for most of his life.  After a period of time in other positions and (dare we say it !) other utility power distributors, as well as Southwire, his lot in life finally improved when he joined United Power in 1980. John has performed every job we have, from inside sales to outside, from purchasing to warehousing.  John actively called on Customers throughout Georgia for more than 19 years.  John is a vital part of the lifeblood of our company and contributes well to keeping the office both entertained and well-fed, given that he often prepares breakfasts and lunches for our staff.

Most of John’s leisure time is spent with his grandchildren, and anything left over is split between hunting, saltwater fishing, and golf, and occasionally horses.

Butch

Butch – joined the company at just 6 weeks old.  Now three years old, he is punctual and loves to play (any kind, any time) but especially likes ‘stick’, ‘ball’, and water sports.  At home, he shares his ‘pets’ with two other schnauzers, Mollie and Beau.  He serves as company mascot and greeter.
